Who takes the test? This optional test is a rigorous national assessment for student who will be Juniors in 2025-2026 and is the test to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Programs. The test is open to all junior students; in particular those who typically score in the top 10% on standardized tests are encouraged to register. Student who will be Sophomores in 2025-2026 may take the PSAT, only as a practice test.
What is the test? The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test that provides first-hand practice for the SAT. It also gives junior students a chance to enter National Merit scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. Students will receive feedback on their strengths/weaknesses for college studies.
When is the test? The 2025 PSAT will be given at WHS on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. Please note this is the district fall test day. Juniors who elect to take the PSAT will not take the practice ACT test scheduled for all 11th graders; sophomores who elect to take the PSAT will not take the pre-ACT test scheduled for all 10th graders. (There will not be a make-up day)
